How do I use the Kids’ Quest-ions Companion Guide?

This guide is complementary to the Kids’ Quest-ions, our card deck to help kids build confidence and take charge of who they want to be. In the card deck, you’ll get 49 conversation starters on topics like identity, friendship & responsibilities. The companion guide goes deeper and offers you tips for better conversations, question variations and follow-up questions.

Can I use this guide without the cards?

The Kids’ Quest-ions Companion Guide is an add-on for the card deck. Although the tips from the companion guide can be used with or without the cards, the variations and follow-up questions won’t make much sense if you don’t have the conversation prompts.

Why a companion guide?

For our earlier card decks, a lot of you told us that although you love the questions, you’d like a bit more guidance in how to navigate answers and go deeper (we’re working on that!) For the Kids’ Quest-ions, we decided to develop the companion guide right away so you can dive in and have better conversation with your kids.

What’s the perfect age for my kid to answer these questions?

Most of these questions will start being relevant around primary & middle school age, 6-12. That said, we’ve also explored some of these questions with teenagers. We believe the earlier you start with self-reflection, the better. Kids in primary school often build their identity and their sense of what’s ‘good behavior’ looking at their peers and teachers. If you have a kid that doesn’t quite fit the mold, exploring a different way of building their identity – looking inward, not outward – will help them accept who they are and choose their own path. Apart from age, these cards are great for kids who are neurodivergent – gifted or autistic, ADHD, twice exceptional, etc. These kids often enjoy understanding things on a deeper level and the questions may spark their curiosity about who they are and who they want to be. The Kids’ Quest-ions companion guide will help you navigate the conversations and really get to the bottom of things.
