The weather outside is… rainy and a bit gray. That’s the Netherlands for you. Anyway, with a cup of Chai (or Pumpkin Spice) Latte & a cat snuggling in your lap, the darker time of the year really isn’t that bad. Are your days less about cat-cuddling and more about doing a 1000 things to wrap up your year & be a holiday hero? How about setting aside some time for yourself to reflect on everything this year’s brought you and make plans for 2025? In this blog, we’ll tell you how to create your own 2025 vision board!
What’s a vision board again?
A vision board is a visual reminder of what you’d like your life to look like. Unlike a mood board (which is all about colors, textures, and vibes), a vision board is a bit more specific. It helps you get clear on the things you want (and the things you don’t). If you’re a Type A (no shame in that!) – it’s a great first step to focus your goals. If you’re not – well, it’s also just a fun and creative activity you could do with those you love!
The benefits of having a vision board:
- It helps you zoom out and remind yourself what it’s all for.
- It will help you get specific: what do happiness, love, success, and health look like to you?
- It’s very visual, so you can use it as a starting point to discuss your plans and dreams with others
- Did we mention it’s very visual? You can put it somewhere you’ll see it more often (your notebook, the toilet door, your desktop wallpaper) so you’re always reminded of the things that really matter.
- Making a vision board is a lot of fun! You can do it by yourself (for a mindful & cosy moment) or together with your friends, co-workers, or family.
What do you need to create your vision board for 2025?
A mood board is often created from magazine cut-outs. A vision board can be, too, but we’d suggest… drawing. If this sounds daunting, don’t worry – you really don’t need much. In fact, some really cool vision boards can be created with just a piece of paper and a pen. You don’t even need any drawing skills. Stick figures are your best friend! We’ve also got some super simple tutorials to get you started.

Really don’t feel like picking up a pen or a pencil? Get a stack of old magazines, a pair of scissors, and glue – create a collage. Here’s a tip though: when leafing through the magazines, put them upside down (otherwise, you’ll find yourself sucked into all the interesting articles you’re encountering; trust us, we’ve all been there!)

Creating your 2025 vision board, step by step
Creating your vision board is not rocket science, but if the empty sheet causes instant paralysis, here’s how to get started:
- Consider the topic. Is it a general 2025 vision board for the year to come? Or are you focusing on any specific aspect of your life, such as your career or your relationships?
- Give your vision board a title. Want to start simple? Just write down the year in the middle of your vision board.
- Imagine yourself this time next year. What do you want your life to be like? Consider the different areas of your life: your personal growth, relationships, friendships, family life, hobbies, work, health…
- Start with one topic and draw or paste a visual on your vision board. Use text to clarify what you want exactly. For instance, you can paste a photo of a stack of books, and then write ‘read 10 novels’.
- Keep going until you feel you’ve exhausted your imagination.
- Are you creating together? Share your vision boards and discuss your plans!

Vision boarding together
Creating a vision board for your 2025 will help you focus on what makes you thrive. But it’s also great to make a vision board together. There’s two ways to do this.
1: You all create your own vision boards while enjoying each other’s company (check out our page on hosting vision boarding parties to get started).

2: You create one 2025 vision board for all of you. For instance, make one with your partner(s) for your relationship. One with colleagues for your 2025 work focus. Or with your sports team for everything you want to accomplish in the year to come. Tip: Don’t just focus on the outcomes, focus on the process – how would you like to support each other?
