The Perfect Romantic Present
Surprise your Valentine with these 5 original gifts and date ideas
It’s almost that time of the year again: the shops are turning red and pink, and the hallmark card racks are packed with sappy declarations of love. It’s time for Valentine. Whether you’re a fan or a hater (commercial BS): with the tips from this blog you’ll surprise your partner on February 14th, or any other day of the year!

#1: Plan a road trip
Take your partner on a surprise road trip, whether for a week, a day or even an evening. Map out a route and consider the places to stop along the way. Why not check the best places to stop for a spontaneous picnic, or book an idyllic restaurant for dinner? Tailor your plans to what you like as a couple. Are you adventurous? Who knows, you might pass a climbing wall or location for urban exploring. Do you like nature? Explore a new forest of nature reserve. More of a culture lover? How about visiting a museum or historical site?
And if you don’t have a car: no problem. Road tripping by train is also totally a thing.
#2: Challenge your partner
What are things your partner would secretly love to try, if only they could summon the courage? Think bungee jumping, motorcycling, karaoke or metal smithing. It could be anything! Surprise your partner with a trial lesson or a workshop, either for them alone or to do together with you. After all, ideal gifts are usually the ones the recipient likes, but wouldn’t buy for themselves.
#3: A homemade gift
Homemade gifts often evoke memories of those times where we’d present our parents with crafts they’d stick to the fridge (and later move to the paper bin). “How beautiful!” the adult would say, frantically trying to figure out what exactly they are looking at. Luckily, it doesn’t have to be this way with your Valentine. Are you an artist? Maybe you’ll find it a piece of cake to make a portrait, piece of jewelry, song or poem. Not that artistic? How about gifting your partner an actual self-made cake, or for instance a home-grown plant?
#4: Peace and quiet
Is your partner great at neglecting their own needs and working too hard? A great moment to treat them with… doing absolutely nothing for a moment. Do you have money to spend? Book a weekend in a wellness resort. Operating on a budget? A spa day can be great. Broke? No problem. Turn your bedroom into a relaxation zone and spoil your partner with an elaborate massage.
#5: Our vision cards
Want to give your partner something tangible that will also benefit your relationship? Take a look at our vision card decks (such as the Dutch card deck for relationships or our English base deck). With the vision cards, you’ll get to know each other even better, and you’ll strengthen and clarify your view on relationships. Pour a nice glass of wine or cup of tea and start a conversation! You can score the tickets in our shop.
